How to split expenses without signing up
Checked October 2026
You can split a trip or a dinner in Paid Up without an account, an email address or a password.
Start a group
Open Paid Up and tap Start a group. Name it and add the people. That's all it takes.
Bring your friends in
Share the group link by text or any chat app. Your friends open it, pick their name and they're in. They don't need an account either.
Add expenses and settle up
Anyone in the group can add an expense, choose who paid and split it equally or another way. Balances update as you go, and you can tap a balance to see the lines behind it. When someone pays, record the payment.
What no account means
Without an account, your groups are tied to the phone or browser you used. If you lose that phone or clear its data, you can lose access.
When you want your groups on every device, create a free account with Google or your email. Everything you have now comes with you.
Why you might still want an account
Notifications, the Friends tab, emailed invites and reminders, and using your groups on a second device need a free account. Everything else works without one.
