How to get around Splitwise's daily expense limit
Checked October 2026
You're halfway through logging a dinner and Splitwise tells you to wait. Here's what we know about the limit and the ways around it.
What the limit is
Free Splitwise accounts can only add a few expenses a day. Reports of the exact number differ, so here's what we checked.
Splitwise limits how many expenses a free account can add each day, reported as 3 to 5 per day, as of October 2026.

Your options
You can wait until the next day and add the rest then. You can pay for Splitwise Pro, which Splitwise lists as the way to get past the cap along with other features.
Or you can move the group to an app without that cap. Paid Up allows up to 2,000 expenses a day, and it has no ads either.
Splitwise lists expense search, charts by category, currency conversion and default splits as Pro features.

Move a group to Paid Up
Your history can come with you.
- Export the group from Splitwise as a spreadsheet.
- In Paid Up, choose Import from Splitwise and pick the file.
- Check that each person's balance matches before you import. Paid Up won't import until they do.
- Share the group link so everyone can join. Nobody needs an account.
What to know first
Paid Up stops a single person at 2,000 saved expenses a day to keep the service steady. That's far above any night out, but it's a cap.
Splitwise exports a net amount per person, so imported expenses don't show who paid or how each one was split. The import guide lists what is left behind.
